Estate of Benjamin Patterson

Formed in 2016, the Estate of Benjamin Patterson manages all estate publications related to the artist, the artist’s archive on-site in Hamburg, Germany, and this website. Collaborative estate work with scholars, curators, collectors, artists and art institutions is specified when necessary.

The estate is undergoing constant evaluation as materials are itemized, organized, listed, and discovered or recovered from other entities. The Estate of Benjamin Patterson houses Patterson's personal art collection and art objects previously in-situ at Patterson’s home in Wiesbaden, as well as an array of archival documents.

With support from Stiftung Kunstfonds in Bonn, Germany, Dr. Barbro W. Patterson and julia elizabeth neal created the first medium-specific volume that inventories the artist’s performance works within the estate.

Titled Performance Works within the Estate of Benjamin Patterson: A Catalogue Raisonné Volume I, this document is the first among future volumes (pending resources and time), tentatively planned as recorded music & sound; objects, assemblages, collages, and installations. The goal is to increase opportunities for everyone to contextualize and approach his oeuvre. Each volume is a living document and will be updated accordingly.
